We give an engagement ring as a symbol of commitment to a person. The simplest engagement ring you can give is a ring that is set with one diamond. This is a solitaire diamond ring. In a solitaire, all the emphasis is on the diamond.

Careful Diamond Selection is the Key

In every ring we make, a great deal of care goes into selecting the diamond. This is important, as it is the diamond that carries the day and makes the ring. The diamond needs to be a good balance between size and quality. In diamonds, remember that size is not everything. It really is a waste of money to buy a big diamond, if budget restrictions mean that the quality of the diamond suffers to such an extent that it does not look good. It is far better to opt for a smaller diamond that does everything that a diamond should do. You want your diamond to have sparkle, life and brilliance. After all, in a solitaire it is on its own out there, and it should look great!

The diamond can be set in a number of ways: claw or bezel set, grain or tension set. However the diamond is set, the setting is simply a means to present the diamond. With a solitaire design, we give all the emphasis to the gemstone rather than to the ring itself.

Having a solitaire diamond ring is a great way to maximise the available budget for the diamond component of the ring. A simple solitaire design means that we can direct all the available budget to the one and only diamond. The cost of making the ring is far less than a ring design that has a lot of additional diamonds. A simple, stunning solitaire ring is the end result.

We’ve just had our wedding about 3 weeks ago, so this review is long overdue. We would like to thank Ellissi for their amazing service. Prior to making an appointment I did my research and could find nothing but positive reviews about Ellissi. From the first email to when we first walked into their door, Jess and Ian, were very welcoming. They were both very professional and lovely with a clean working space/ office. My engagement ring was made about 2 years ago whilst our wedding bands were made just last year. The consultations were free and Ian really took the time to explain everything we needed to know about the ring. He was honest, used simple terms and relatable metaphors to explain the details of a ring – 4C’s and no question was ever too silly to ask him. He told us many things that I wasn’t even aware of from my research online, and their rings are GIA certified (but he will explain all this properly) so it’s definitely worth a visit. Even my husband (who knew nothing about rings) was super impressed by the time the consultation had ended and even he found the ring education interesting. Ian NEVER once throughout the process pressured us into buying a ring, instead, listened patiently to really assist us in finding the ring that was right for me. Ian made us feel so comfortable and we could sense he genuinely cared. When I left his office that day, I thought – “yep, I’m choosing him to make my ring” (Note: this was the only ring company I had gone to as well, but went into many jewellery stores, but feeling confident with Ellissi, I knew I didn’t need to waste my time going elsewhere). From memory (2 years ago) we had about 3 visits total and in the end picked up my engagement ring once it was completed. I absolutely LOVE my engagement ring – it’s truly a work of art and can tell he was very meticulous about the finer details. I always get praises for my ring and omg it’s super sparkly. I later found out that my work colleague had her ring made through Ellissi over 10 years ago too and she was very happy with her ring. My husband finally proposed in March 2019. Months before our wedding, we then went back to Ian to make our wedding bands. My wedding band also matches beautifully with my engagement ring and it’s so comfortable to wear. My husband who loves gold, was blown away with his ring. We would like thank Ian, Jess and the team for their wonderful service. I had purchased an engagement ring from another company that had a unique base that made it almost impossible for a wedding band to sit flush without a big hole or curve being incorporated into the design.
